PEERS for Teens Registration is Open for Both Online and In Person programs!

What is PEERS for Teens?

PEERS is a 13-week evidence-based social skills program that engages middle and high school students in mastering social skills. Each week, teens and their parents participate in 90-minute sessions, either at our Surrey, BC office or online via Zoom. Over 13 weeks, the program provides a comprehensive learning experience. Teens practice social skills through interactive activities, enhancing their social competence.

Furthermore, PEERS is invaluable for teens facing challenges like Autism Spectrum Disorder (high functioning), ADHD, Anxiety, or Depression or social anxiety. Active parent involvement forms a supportive learning environment, fostering growth and confidence in teens.

What kinds of conversational skills will PEERS for Teens cover?

  • Use humor appropriately
  • Use electronic communication
  • Enter & exit conversations
  • Be a good host during get-togethers
  • Be a good sport
  • Handle arguments and disagreements
  • Change a bad reputation
  • Handle rumours and gossip
  • Handle rejection, teasing and bullying
  • Using social media and online platforms to develop and maintain platforms

*It is important to note that parent participation is a vital component of the PEERS program. There are weekly parent groups, run by a trained facilitator, in which caregivers learn to be effective social coaches for their child. Additionally, parents will help their child complete weekly assignments (e.g. phoning a friend, hosting a get-together, etc)
